Bacon & Egg Toast air fryer recipe
Rich in flavour open face toast made with thick cut bacon and two eggs, for a quick and easy breakfast which can be taken away.
Air fried bacon egg toast calls for topping a single slice of white bread with bacon rashers shaped around the edges, so two raw eggs can be contained in the centre. Air fry at 400°F/205°C for 7 minutes, or until the egg whites set. Serve with ketchup or air fry additional bread slice to make a sandwich.
CONTENTS:
What I would normally call a bacon and egg toastie (its a British thing) this recipe calls for little as three ingredients, which are all air fried on a single slice of white bread.
No need to get the frying pan out on this occasion as the eggs are fried on top of the bread, which is contained within a bacon barrier. Eggs can be tricky to air fry, yet the 7 minute cook time should be about right to air fry to hopefully a runny yolk.
Spray the raw eggs once they're poured into the bacon barrier with spray oil. Oil gets hot which in turn will help to quickly set the egg whites.
Bacon of choice is thick-cut, which is used to make a tall barrier to contain the raw eggs. Bacon will air fry in the 7 minute timeframe, with no need to turn the bacon.
With various ways to cook bacon and egg together in an air fryer, who would of thought cooking both on a slice of bread would be one of the easiest methods.
Single slice of bread used can be medium or thick-cut, and should be hole-free to contain the runny raw egg. Bread is air fried on one side only, whilst the underside will still toast - yet will just be lighter in colour. It is possible to partially air fry the bread, but it does risk burning the toast with an additional 7 minutes to cook the bacon and eggs.

Get to know about the three main ingredients used to make bacon and egg toast, which all comes together on top of the thick-cut white bread slice.
Unsmoked Back Bacon rashers
Choose your back bacon rashers carefully because two thick-cut rashers which are long enough, should be enough to create an efficient barrier to contain raw runny eggs.
If thin-cut bacon is used, then 3-4 rashers will be enough to make a spillage-free barrier round the edge of the single slice of bread. Make it unsmoked bacon nevertheless, as the smoky flavour will overwhelm other ingredients.
Medium Eggs
Go for two medium size eggs which can be free range or caged. Size is important on this occasion, where small or medium eggs must be used.
Larger than normal eggs will produce too much egg, which could result in the two raw eggs spilling over your bacon barrier. I found two medium eggs still spilled, thus larger than medium is sure to create a lot of problems for you.
Thick-cut white bread slice
What you will be doing with a single slice of thick-cut bread is turn it into toast, in the 7 minutes it takes to actually fully cook the eggs. Air fry bread on one side only, with all ingredients on top - with no turning over of bread required for this recipe.
White slice of bread because I find it tastes better when toasted. In addition, ensure slice of bread is firm with no obvious holes of which the raw eggs can filter through.
Serving Suggestions
Normally your bacon egg toast would be served as is, with no additional sides. Its a quick breakfast dish after all, thus no additional food items are needed.
You can of course squirt ketchup over your air fried bacon egg toast to give it a little zing, with an option to cut toast in half, and dip in tomato ketchup.
With this being open face toast, you can make a toastie out of this recipe by simply air frying an additional slice of bread, if there's room. If you do make a toastie out of it, why not add cheese to melt with perhaps cut thin sliced tomatoes.
Really, little else can be served with or done with a bacon egg toast, with sauces a must but you can build a sandwich out of it for a full, hefty breakfast.
Recipe PROS & CONS
You will want to know the positives and negatives of making this bacon and egg toast recipe, which should give you some hints at what to expect, and when to avoid it.
PROS:
What better way to make quick open face toast in an air fryer than adding bacon and eggs on top of bread, whilst air frying for 7 minutes until cooked.
Of course, bacon and eggs would normally be fried in the pan, which means you save on calories with this method.
CONS:
Downside to making bacon and egg toast in the air fryer of course, is not knowing whether you egg yolk will be runny, medium, or very well done. Size of egg can change all that, where I was lucky enough to produce a beautiful runny yolk.
Most scary moment when making this bacon egg toast is whether at the point of pouring the raw eggs into the bacon nest, will the eggs spill over the side. While this happened to me, its not the end of the world, because you can continue to air fry and eat.

Learn how to make a quick and easy bacon and egg toastie, where I take you through a visual guide, one step at a time.
STEP 1: Preheat air fryer: 5 Minutes
Preheat function should give you a 5 minute time, with a 400°F/205°C temperature. If it doesn't, I recommend you dial in this time and temperature exactly as stated manually.
STEP 2: Break 2 eggs into single dish
I prefer to crack eggs into a dish if possible which allows me to quickly pick out any broken shell. Its far easier to pour pre-cracked eggs directly into the air fryer basket - rather than breaking eggs within a confined HOT air fryer basket.
STEP 3: Line air fryer basket with Baking Paper
Expect your raw egg whites to spill a little - like they did with mine so build the bacon barrier high and fully enclosed - so it won't hurt to save the eggs with parchment paper.
STEP 4: Centre bread slice on lining
On top of the parchment paper, go ahead and centre a single slice of white bread, which must be large enough to hold two bacon rashers, and two medium size eggs.
STEP 5: Create a 'nest' with 2 bacon rashers on bread slice
With your hopefully two thick-cut and long unsmoked bacon rashers, create a barrier which must be tall enough to provide a tight seal, so the slippery raw egg won't slide out through any gap or too low bacon barrier, also referred to as a nest.
STEP 6: Pour raw eggs into centre of bacon rasher nest
Moment of truth, when your pour your two raw eggs into the bacon nest, eggs will either remain in place, or the runny raw eggs will cross over the bacon barrier. If there is a spillage, just continue to air fry this bacon egg toast as normal, like I had to.
STEP 7: Spray eggs with oil
I like to use a little spray oil to cover the raw eggs in because I find when the oil heats up, it does well to cook the egg whites faster, where they would otherwise take too long.
STEP 8: Air fry at 400°F / 205°C for 7 minutes
When setting your air fryer to this temp and time exactly, expect runny to medium done egg yolks, and a crispy, crunchy toast texture.
STEP 9: Pull out Egg & Bacon Toast slice to serve
While the egg whites set in the 7 minutes given with the egg yolk baked on top, the eggs were still very runny along with a rich, well seasoned flavour overall.
