Can you put Glass in an air fryer
It can be hard to manage a tight-fitted glass bowl or dish in an air fryer, so you will need to plan ahead of how this heavy glass cookware is going to be removed.
Glass cookware like bowls, dishes, trays and ramekins, can all be safely used in an air fryer, providing they're all marked as oven-proof. General rule is, if it goes in an oven, it can be used in an air fryer. I would advise to use alternative oven-proof metal baking trays first thing, while bearing in mind glass can crack.

The opportunity to use any kind of glassware in my air fryer hasn't come around that often, in fact, its just happened the once.
Reason for it, was to reheat a leftover casserole of which, it was originally cooked in an oven-proof glass dish - where I wanted to quickly reheat in the air fryer.
On this occasion, everything worked out just fine, because I knew the glass container was safe for the oven, and therefore safe for the air fryer. Still, it can be unsettling putting glass in an air fryer, which I feel you must follow one simple safety procedure.
When positioning glass cookware in the air fryer to cook fresh or reheat, you absolutely must SIT THE GLASS DISH AT ROOM TEMPERATURE for 20-30 minutes.
Never add a 'cook from frozen' glass bowl/dish in your air fryer, because the change in temperature could lead to cracking - and potentially blowing up the dish - because cold rapidly turning hot will do that.
Know when air frying with OVEN PROOF SAFE MARKED glass dishes and bowls, you can cook a freshly made pasta bake to a lasagna, just like you would in an oven.
Begin air frying with use of glass cookware from room temperature only. In the meantime, you can think about utilising alternative air fryer-safe containers, like a none-stick baking tray or what could be a ceramic bowl.
I wouldn't use a glass dish/bowl lid if needed, as it would be too heavy to cook in an air fryer. Wrapping the top of your glass bowl/dish in foil would be a better option, with one condition; make sure the foil wrap can't fly off, by securing the foil under the glass cookware lip, to stop it flipping up and open.
Oven-proof glass cookware only
You probably know about popular oven proof cookware like Pyrex, which is a brand specifically designed to be used in the oven.
If your glass bowls and dishes are marked with Pyrex - which would normally be embossed on the bottom of the bowl - you can bet your glass bowl/dish will be safe to use in your air fryer.Example of that, I wanted to melt a little butter in the air fryer but I wasn't sure if the glass ramekin would be safe. Yet, in the final moments before air frying the ramekin anyway, I noticed it had Pyrex embossed on the underside of the small glass dish.
Other oven proof dishes are safe to use in an air fryer, because they can be used in an oven.
I would go as far to say, any thick-glass bowls/dishes of unknown branding/origin, may be safe to use in an air fryer.
I took the risk once by frying an egg on a ceramic dinner plate, which actually turned out fine, even if it wasn't marked safe anywhere for oven use.
Difficulty comes in removing bowls
Go ahead and use an oven proof safe glass cookware in your air fryer, with a plan of action on how to place the bowl in the air fryer, and more importantly... how are you going to safely REMOVE THE HOT BOWL out of the air fryer.
Glass cookware will be extremely hot which will make things more difficult, thus you need a plan of action.
Make your plan whilst the glass bowl or dish is cold, and so will be the air fryer. You will need space around the edge of the glass dish, so you can get your tea towel wrapped fingers underneath the sides of the glass bowl, to lift up and out.
Tipping the air fryer basket to one side as you simultaneously pull the glass dish out, will save you a lot of trouble.
With that in mind, you can think about sitting any type of glass cookware on a thick sheet or double layer of foil. Plan would be to lift or slide the glass dish out of the air fryer, with use of the foil which will have wings either side, to grab hold and pull out.
Glass could scratch NONE-STICK coating
I bet you haven't thought of this have you, well seeing as a glass dish will be one of the heaviest none-food items to put in your air fryer basket, have you thought about how much damage can be done to the basket.
I am not talking about bending or deforming the metal basket, but more so where the glass cookware could scratch off the none-stick coating on the air fryer basket interior.
On occasion, you will have trouble removing a glass dish out of the air fryer when finished cooking, which will lead to the glass dishes and bowls being knocked about in such a way, the glass dish will scrape around the air fryer interior.
I know this, which is why I always sit my cake pan on foil so there's a little cushion between the metal cake pan and air fryer basket.
What you can do with a heavy glass bowl or dish especially, is actually line your air fryer basket in parchment paper of all things, of which there's little chance the glass can scratch the basket.
You can cut the parchment paper in such a way there's access paper opposite sides, thus the hot glass dish can be slid out with the air fryer basket leaning to one side.
It will be near impossible to lift glass cookware directly up and out of your air fryer, as you won't have the space on either side to get your fingers underneath the glass dish.
Summarise
You can safely use any kind of made in glass cookware, which can be bowls, dishes, ramekins and containers, inside an air fryer.
If either of these glass cookware items are marked for use in an oven, they can 100% be safely used in an air fryer. Pyrex is a brand to look out for, whilst other branded cookware will mark for use in an oven, if its safe to do so.
Even so, I have found made in thick glass dish and bowls can be used in an air fryer, just as a made in ceramic dinner plate was used in my air fryer once.
It may not be as simple as using an oven-safe dish and bowl in your air fryer mind. It may be easy enough to position a cold glass dish in an oven; how on earth are you going to remove this tricky glass dish out of an air fryer basket, which will leave little wiggle room.
You will need to slide any glass cookware out of the basket in such a way, the basket itself is leaning over to the side, bringing the glass dish safely onto the kitchen worktop.
Unfortunately, glass cookware is heavy and can be harsh on the none-stick air fryer basket. Which is why you should first line your air fryer basket in parchment paper or foil, so the basket can't be scratched up by the glass dish as you attempt to remove it.
