Can you reheat Croissants in air fryer

Air fryers can just about cook fresh or reheat any pastry imaginable, so its sure to make easy work of light, fluffy, buttery croissants.

Reheat any size croissant to a low heat and air fry for no more than 2 minutes, where the croissants will get back the taste and texture from when they were originally baked fresh. Reheat croissants with confidence knowing little mistakes can be made - while avoid reheating for too long at a high temperature.

Of all food items an air fryer can reheat well, I promise you there's nothing better than a light crispy croissant an air fryer will cook.

Quality of a reheated croissant will very between each and every croissant - including cheap to quality store-bought croissants - and a freshly made bakery croissant you might of picked up in a local bakery near you, or perhaps at a genuine French bakery.

Either way, the air fryer will need an additional minute to 30 seconds for larger a croissant, or 30 seconds less for small croissants often sold in supermarkets.

You can reheat croissants in an air fryer with no issues at all, and depending on how hot you want it along with the texture - the time and temperature will vary.

By experience, how I reheated my croissants in an air fryer was for a total of 2 minutes only, at 356°F/180°C.

Nothing else to it really, these 10cm long, 5cm wide croissants - with a depth of about 4cm - cooked to a gentle heat while maintaining the texture on the outside. I recommend you don't overcook your croissants to produce a crispier exterior, as it won't air fry nicely.

At least gently warming croissants up, and therefore perhaps not reheating them enough, you can pop the croissants back in the air fryer for an additional minute or so.

Add croissants into the air fryer basket in a single layer with space between each and every croissant to allow air flow. No need to line the basket with parchment paper as the air fryer will work well to reheat these pastries with no lining.

How I reheated my croissants was from a cold start as I felt a preheating air fryer would be too aggressive for croissants - and thus a cold start would be more gentle on these delicate pastries.

Croissants quickly reheat in air fryer

Reach the ideal temperature of which you want to reheat your croissants at, where you can feel the croissant by lightly pressing on it to get an idea how hot/crispy it is.

Air fryers will make ease of reheating croissants which can be done in a matter of minutes, with no preparation needed.

You simply add the croissants directly in the basket and reheat for no more than 2 minutes.

Croissants can reheat to a texture that is hard and crispy, which you don't want because it can change the overall taste. Go gently at a low heat for 2 minutes; only then return the croissants to the air fryer if you feel they stand to benefit with an extra few seconds.

Pinch the croissants when the two minutes are up in an effort to feel for the exterior temperature, if its hot then the interior temperature should at least be warm.

I recently cooked two medium size croissants following these instructions, which gave me a hot exterior, and a lukewarm centre.

Low Temp, Reheat 2 to 2½ minutes only

No rush when it comes to reheating any store-bought croissants, in which I am being extra cautious by air frying at a low heat, for only 2 minutes.

With my first ever attempt at reheating store-bought croissants I heated later in the day, I took a chance at a temperature of 356°F/180°C, for two minutes, and it worked out just fine.

What I probably could of done better is actually give my two croissants an extra 30 seconds, which unfortunately a second timer doesn't feature on my air fryer. No excuses though because I could've counted down the final 30 seconds.

Temperature inside my croissants were lukewarm but certainly hot enough for me.

Croissant texture was unchanged which means I succeeded in reheating croissants in the air fryer, without changing the flavour or level of flakiness.

Go gently reheating your croissants in particular, because you can always return croissants to the air fryer basket - while its near impossible to fix an overcooked, now very crispy croissant - which isn't a texture any croissant must reach.

Small quantity, NO lining

No need to waste foil or baking paper when reheating croissants; I've popped the croissants directly in the basket to utilize the air flow beneath the pastries.

Croissants I bought home from the supermarket bakery on this particular day included two croissants only, which was a breeze to quickly reheat in my air fryer.

I didn't have to prepare them in any particular way, like sprinkling them with water like you could when reheating buns; nor did I have to line the air fryer basket with parchment paper or foil to prevent sticking, as there was no chance of that.

Croissants can leave a little grease mark but it didn't show up on my basket.

With the croissants added directly to the air fryer, I was sure the strong air flow could properly reheat the croissants from all angles, including underneath.

To be on the safe side, I reheated the croissants upside down for the first minute, then flipped them both back over, top side facing up, for the final minute.

Few croissant flakes fell onto the basket which were quickly tipped into the trash, with my air fryer basket appearing good as new.

Summary

You can reheat croissants - including making croissants fresh - in an air fryer where the appliance will cook the croissants as if they were fresh out of the bakery.

Air fryers can't make poorly baked croissants into a light, buttery pastry as they should be, but they certainly can improve upon the taste and texture of cold croissants.

Ensure however many croissants you wish to reheat any one time in the air fryer, are evenly spread out with space in between each one. Set the timer to 2 minutes, then dial in the temperature to a gentle 356°F/180°C.

Reheat the croissants upside down for a minute; turn them the correct way up; and continue to reheat for the final minute.

No need to add parchment paper or foil into the basket this time around, as these light and flaky pastries will benefit more from an empty air fryer basket.
