How to Reheat Quiche in air fryer

Quiches of all sizes and flavours can be quickly and easily reheated in an air fryer, whether its bought in the shop or you have a home baked quiche leftover.

Reheat any store-bought quiche in an air fryer at the air fryers default pre-set temperature of 356°F/180°C; proceed to then reheat any size quiche by following the oven instructions on the box - deducting 5 minutes chilled cooking times. Reheating a frozen quiche will result in only 5 minutes more of cooking time.

As most of us will be reheating a leftover quiche or one that is already cooked but can be cooked in the oven if bought in store. I have cut a fresh quiche Lorraine in half; to test the time/temp of a frozen quiche slice, in addition to a chilled 'ready to eat' slice.

What I plan to do is to find out how to reheat both a frozen and chilled quiche half when cooked together in the same air fryer basket.

It will be impossible to cook two quiches at the same time in such a tight spot; thus I've cut in half a single quiche and cooked both frozen and chilled halves side by side.

With the fresh quiche slice I've found it to be particularly delicate when working with it in an air fryer. I found its a good idea to position parchment paper on top of the metal quiche tray it was originally sold in... then flip it over onto the paper.

All this takes part over the kitchen counter as we prepare to reheat the quiche in the awaiting, but not so much a preheated air fryer.

Try to avoid preheating the air fryer because you need to work with the quiche early on while being careful not to break it when adding it to the basket.

With a super hot air fryer basket it would be impossible to do so without burning your hands, fingers and forearms.

With my particular store-bought quiche on this day being just 2cm thick, 12cm wide, and weighing a total of 400g; cooking instructions outlined below are related to my store-bought quiche only - and will vary with your quiche as it could be thicker and bigger.

Cooking a fresh quiche from scratch in the air fryer in that regard will require you to reheat if need be in air fryer exactly as it tells you in the original recipe.

Solution I found to reheating any fresh or frozen quiche though is to follow the cooking instructions for the oven on the back of the box, then proceed to subtract 5 minutes off the total cooking time for the chilled quiche, with an additional 5 minutes in total for the frozen quiche.

By the way, both taste and texture were excellent with the frozen air fried quiche a little crispier - probably because it was reheated 5 minutes longer.

DO NOT reheat the quiche still in its original foil tray as we want to quickly reheat the quiche which must be fully exposed to the heat.

Step 1: Prepare

Not much goes into preparing a quiche of any kind to get it ready for reheating in an air fryer. You just need to be gentle with a chilled store-bought or fresh homemade quiche at this point, as both will be crumbly and prone to breaking.

To prevent breakage, place a sheet of parchment paper or foil on top of the quiche sitting on a plate or still in its original foil tray - then proceed to flip the quiche over so its upside down on top of the parchment or foil paper - then gently add it to the basket.

  • STEP 1: Decanter quiche upside down out of foil tray - Carefully place on parchment paper while you're still standing over the kitchen countertop
  • STEP 2: Pick up quiche sitting on parchment paper - Still upside down, gently place quiche sitting on parchment/foil paper into the centre of the air fryer basket

Step 2: Reheat

Reheating a store-bought or freshly made quiche really isn't that difficult. Simply reheat the quiche according to what you are instructed to do as outlined on the cooking instructions - which are found on the box or the on the original recipe.

If indeed you disposed of the original quiche box to follow the cooking instructions on, often the product can be found on the store's web site with instructions included.

  • STEP 1: Reheat chilled/fresh quiche at 356°F/180°C for 15 minutes - Cook for 5 minutes upside down; flip quiche over to reheat for the final 10 minutes; bringing total cooking time to 15 minutes. Chilled quiche in featured pictured on the right side
  • STEP 2: Reheat frozen quiche at 356°F/180°C for 20 minutes - Cook 15 minutes upside down; flip the right way up and reheat for the final 5 minutes; bringing total cooking time to 20 minutes. Frozen quiche slice is featured on the left side of image.

Step 3: Serve

With the quiche now hopefully fully reheated with it scolding hot in the middle, you must remove the quiche without breaking it apart in the process. It isn't easy but will likely be achieved if you do so slowly.

Removing the basket out of the container will help while tipping the basket to one side, while simultaneously sliding out the quiche by the parchment paper or foil lining.

  • STEP 1: Remove quiche out of the air fryer - I'm given the opportunity to pull the quiche slice out of the air fryer on this occasion by folding over the parchment paper, with the quiche securely wrapped up inside
  • STEP 2: Ready to serve - ensure centre of quiche is well done by cutting off a slice, before committing to shutting down air fryer

DECANTER TIPS!

Slowly tip air fryer basket to one side and slowly pull the quiche out of the basket being careful trying not to break this delicate pastry

Parchment paper will assist you lifting out of the quiche (like I done in my demonstration) while foil will provide a more solid base if you have it available

Summary

And that brings us to the end of how to reheat any kind of quiche in an air fryer; be it one that is bought in a box in a shop, or indeed a fresh slice bought in a bakery - and even better than that - a made at home quiche Lorraine.

What I found when reheating a store-bought quiche this time around is, I only needed to adjust the timing for both a frozen and chilled slice of quiche.

Following the temperature of 356°F/180°C for both frozen and chilled quiche halves, I simply deducted 5 minutes from the chilled instructions - while deducting a massive 20 minutes off the frozen - yet I reheated both samples very well.

Most difficult part about reheating a full rounded quiche in an air fryer, is how to get this prone to breaking pastry into a fairly deep metal basket.

I have found placing the quiche upside down onto some parchment or foil paper to be the way to go.

Plan is to lower the quiche into the air fryer basket by pinching both sides of the parchment as the quiche is balanced in the centre. Not at all guaranteed it won't break or slice off as it happens, but it worked for me this time.

While this applies to freshly made or chilled store-bought quiches, you shouldn't have an issue placing a whole frozen quiche or slices in an air fryer.

Regardless, both frozen and chilled quiches will be a little difficult to decanter out of an air fryer basket, which will be a moment of truth, between breaking it or keeping it fully intact.
