How to Roast Corn On the Cob in air fryer
Roasting corn on the cob is actually different to plain old air frying, because blackening the edges of the cobs will change the flavour for the better.
To produce genuine roasted air fried corn on the cob, you will want to air fry for a full 35 minutes, at 355°F/180°C. Air fry until you reach a dark yellow colour, along with char on the edges. Melt butter in a dish which will be used to baste the cobs every 5 minutes, where the cobs must be rotated regularly.

Air fried roasted corn on the cobs will taste better when cooked until you produce plenty of char, which is both rich in buttery flavour and crispy texture.
Roast up to four corn on the cobs if you wish with a dish of melted butter near your air fryer, of which you'll need it close by as your baste the corn ever few minutes. Ideally with use of a silicone brush.
Because you'll be basting corn on the cobs with melted butter, it will run - and therefore potentially make a mess - so I decided to use a spare tin foil tray to air fry the corn in, with an effort to catch spilled butter. It isn't necessary to use a foil tray, when you can simply line your air fryer basket in foil or parchment paper.
While preheating your air fryer, in that time be sure to add 1-2 tablespoons of butter into an air fryer-safe dish to melt, in the process of preheating the air fryer for a minute or so.
Remove the dish of melted butter and put to one side. You can then begin air frying your corn on the cobs, with the idea of rotating them every 4-5 minutes.
So you will be rotating the corn on the cobs every 5 minutes if you like, whilst at the same time basting the top of the cobs in your pre-melted butter.
Continue to repeat this process every 5 minutes for the full 35 minutes - so 6-7 times or thereabouts, until done.
Corn on the cob will become bright-yellow in colour midway through cooking and will look good enough to eat then. When in fact, you will want to air fry corn on the cobs until you reach a deep golden colour, with hints of char/black on the edges.
Preparation
Other than preheating your air fryer, little effort goes until preparing corn on the cobs for air frying, other than melting the butter, with a choice of adding seasoning - and perhaps a little spice like smoked Paprika.
- STEP 1: Preheat air fryer: 5 Minutes - Get your air fryer nice and hot so you can follow these cooking instructions precisely
- STEP 2: Melt 1 tbsp. of butter for 90 Seconds in dish - I only needed one tablespoon of melted butter, but you can play it safe with two tablespoons
- STEP 3: Place Corn on the Cobs in foil tray - Foil tray will contain spilled melted butter, although lining your air fryer in foil or parchment paper will do
- STEP 4: Add tray to air fryer basket - Pop your corn on the cobs into your air fryer to begin
Roast 2 Corn on the Cobs in air fryer
- STEP 1: Brush uncooked Corn on the Cobs in melted butter - Before doing anything else, brush your cobs in its first generous coat of butter
- STEP 2: Set temp to 355°F/180°C; time to 35 Minutes - Cobs will need a medium temperature because if its too high, it will burn before its cooked
- STEP 3: Baste in Butter & Rotate every 5 Minutes - For the entirety of air frying, be sure to rotate the cobs while basting the full length on the top and sides, every 4-5 minutes
- STEP 4: Serve immediately - Waste no time to eat your freshly made air fried corn on the cobs, as they're best served hot
Air fry Roasting applies to all corn
Roasting corn on the cobs basically means air frying these corn on the cobs in an exposed air fryer basket, which can apply to tinned sweetcorn to baby corn.
You won't need to wrap the cobs in foil nor do you have to cook corn on the cobs within roasting bag. Simply place the cobs in the basket and begin air frying right away.
With any 'Roast' feature on your air fryer, it will won't make a difference if used, because punching in the time and temperature as outlined above, will produce the exact same results - with less confusion that is.
To truly achieve roasted corn on the cobs in your air fryer, producing a deep rich colour along with char on the edges will produce the taste associated with roasting in the oven.
Summary
How you will go about roasting any corn-based foods in an air fryer, would be to air fry any item in the open, with no wrapped in foil required.
You will want to achieve a genuine roast flavour by making sure your corn on the cobs produce a nice char, which will need plenty of time.
All corn on the cobs will require approximately 35 minutes to roast to perfection, along with a medium temperature of 355°F/180°C. And that's it, butter isn't needed but I really recommend that you do, as it produced a deeper flavour, with a buttery corn juice.
You will want to begin the process of air frying corn on the cobs by melting 1-2 large tablespoons of butter in a dish, where you will rotate the corn on the cobs every 4-5 minutes, then baste - before repeating the process until cooked.
